Dear Dunwoody Gridiron Family:
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and has the year off to a great start. The last order of business for our current board is to help recruit new Board members and Officer’s for next season. If you are interested in serving either as a Board Member for the Dunwoody Gridiron Club or as an Officer, please contact me as soon as possible to discuss your interest. The Dunwoody Gridiron Club will be having a meeting the week of February 13th to elect new Board Members and for Coach Showfety to discuss requirements for the upcoming season. The Dunwoody Gridiron Club Board is the policy making arm for the club, setting guiding policies to help fulfill its mission of supporting the Dunwoody Football program. The Board holds regular meetings usually no more than once a month. Board Members can, but are not required to also serve as Club Officers. A Board Member role is not a terribly time consuming responsibility and can easily be handled by parents who often travel.
This next year, we will have a complete turnover on the Board and will need to recruit 5 individuals to serve on the Board. If you are interested, please call or email me and I can get you additional information and discuss it in more detail with you. In addition to Board Members, we will be recruiting for the following Officer Positions – President, Vice President of Fund Raising, and Vice President of Operations.
The Officer Positions require a larger time commitment and will be responsible for helping to recruit and oversee parents serving on committees that fall within their responsibility. Serving under our Officers, we will need volunteers to sign up to chair committees or oversee activities including the Pancake Breakfast, Program Ad Book Sales, Card Sales, Fourth of July Parade, Coaches’ Meals, and the Post Season Banquet. We also need Class Parents for each grade.
This year we will be recruiting an Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer – Elect to work with our current Treasurer, Jack Gaines. The Assistant Treasurer would assume the Treasurer position for the 2013 football season. Although it’s not a requirement, any accountant, business owner, or anyone familiar with basic accounting would be ideal. Please contact Jack Gaines at 770-392-9971 if you are interested in becoming treasurer of the Club.
As you can see, the role of supporting the Dunwoody Football program involves many activities and requires participation from a large number of parents. We need each parent to pitch in and help to make our program a success. Please contact me as soon as possible by either phone or email to discuss your interest in any of these openings.
Thank you for your consideration and once again I want to extend my sincere appreciation to all who so generously served as part of the Dunwoody Gridiron Club for the 2011 season. Please watch out for final details about the exact date, time, and location of the next Dunwoody Gridiron Club meeting.
